My husband, Josh, and I are so grateful we had Dyer as our realtor.
This was our first time buying a home after years of renting,
so needless to say, we needed to find not only our realtor, but an educator
and we found both in Dyer. During our first meeting, Dyer was already
able to advise us on where we would have the greatest resale value with our
home as well as the neighborhoods that best fit the type of home we described as
he started to get a sense of who we were and what we were looking for. Dyer
knows Spokane and knows the Spokane market for homes. He answered our many
questions thoroughly and was available when we were interested in checking out
new properties on the market. We always felt Dyer was in our corner and from
day one, we felt he was someone we could trust and was looking out for us. Both
by email and by phone, we felt we had good communication with him and felt he
had taken the time to get to know us and would alert us whenever a home came on
the market, often getting us into homes before they were even on the market.
We also felt he took the time to not only get to know us, but also what we were
looking for in a home–the negotiables and the absolutes. In fact,
when we found our home, we walked into it, Dyer gave us a
couple of minutes to explore and then said excitedly, “this is the first one
that feels like you!” He, like both of us, knew when we crossed the threshold
that this was finally it. He had been paying attention to what we had been
saying in all the other homes and knew what was important to us, sometimes
before we had even figured out that it was something we valued. Through the
questions he asked and the homes he showed us, we slowly began to clue into
what was truly important in our future home. Dyer also advised us whenever we
walked into a house, educating us on “the guts” of a home and helping us to
evaluate and make sure the structure of the house was sound, and also to keep
an eye out for pricey updates. He has the local knowledge to know which fuse
boxes were installed in which era and which were safe and which would probably
need to be upgraded. Dyer has enough history and connection to Spokane to know
the positives and negatives of various neighborhoods. He also empowered us to look at a home and
know what projects we could probably tackle, and when a home was probably
beyond our project capacity.
We are also grateful for the people Dyer
connected us with throughout the process. He helped us find our mortgage broker
(also connected to Whitworth, who was willing to meet with us and talk us
through all the nuances of closing paperwork), our home inspector, and even
gave us the names and numbers of contractors and maintenance people who could
help us with projects and updates we wanted to make on our home after we
closed.
When we closed on our home, we felt we
were given our keys by someone who had become a dear friend. We found that
given the amount of time we spent with our realtor, we needed to find someone we
not only trusted but someone we honestly liked.
Dyer made buying a home, which can be a stressful experience, not only
understandable, but a whole lot of fun. We still find ourselves walking around
our home saying “I love our house!” and a lot of the credit to us finding the
right one goes to Dyer.
