Child development professionals recognize the camp experience as being valuable in helping children mature socially, emotionally, intellectually, morally, and physically. Summer camps and summer programs for youth not only keep them occupied while on break from school, it provides them with a safe place to be while their parents are at work, and gives them learning experiences that will help them throughout their lives.

Dear friends of the Foundation,
Thanks to you and the wonderful support that the Windermere Foundation has received so far this year, we have disbursed nearly $470,000 to non-profit organizations dedicated to providing services to low-income and homeless families throughout the Western U.S. Our amazing agents, brokers, staff and owners, along with public supporters, continue to contribute generously to the Foundation, making disbursements possible to organizations like Friends of the Children - Portland.

Since 1989, a portion of the proceeds from every home purchased or sold through Windermere Real Estate is donated to the Windermere Foundation. The Foundation uses these donations to provide funding to programs that support low-income and homeless families in our communities. One event that we have supported over the past few years is the annual Husky Hoops half-time free-throw fundraiser at a University of Washington men’s basketball game. At this year’s game, the University of Washington played the team from Stanford.

2015 was an incredible year for the Windermere Foundation. We reached a goal that we set back in 2013, which was to raise $30 million in total donations by the end of 2015. Not only did we reach that milestone, we did it three months early, thanks to the support of Windermere owners, agents, and staff that increased their giving, held more fundraisers, and brought new donors into the fold. With funds raised for the Windermere Foundation, our real estate offices are able to support local non-profits that provide much-needed services to low-income and homeless families in their communities.

On January 18, 2016, many people across the U.S. engaged in service activities on the federal holiday to honor the life and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and to continue his legacy of service. The MLK Day of Service is also a part of United We Serve, the President’s national call to service initiative which is built upon the belief that ordinary people can come together and achieve extraordinary things when given the proper tools.

The holiday season seems to bring out the best in people. And at Windermere, when our offices see a need, they act on it. Often times the need is identified by an individual from an office, like Karen Cleveland from the Vancouver-Mill Plain office.

It’s that time of year again when many of our Windermere offices are out in their communities helping to collect donations and raise money for their local area food banks. Many people rely on the food they get from food banks to feed their families. Not having the luxury to purchase their own food means that many families have to make do with what’s available at the time. You can help make the season brighter for these families by donating items that are needed most.

Greeetings from the Windermere Foundation,
Many people in our communities struggle each day to have their most basic needs met. But thanks to contributions from Windermere owners, agents, staff and our community partners, the Windermere Foundation has been able to donate $1,359,000 so far this year to organizations that provide services to low-income and homeless families throughout the Western U.S.

Why do we love golf tournaments so much? Maybe it’s because it gives us an opportunity to be in the outdoors while enjoying beautiful scenery. Or maybe it’s because it gives us a chance to be a part of a team and connect with others away from the office. And sometimes, it allows us to unleash our lighter-side by dressing up in fun outfits. Whatever the reasons, these events are a terrific way to raise money for a good cause. The weather may not always cooperate, but that doesn’t stop anyone from getting their tee on. Rain or shine, the event must go on!
